Student Policies

Registration

  • Please register early.
  • Please be ready with your name, course, preferred date, company or credit card billing information, and your club membership or coupon number.
  • Be sure you have the prerequisites for any course you want to take. If you’re unsure, talk to your Account Executive.
  • Payment is due in full by the date of the class.

Class Prerequisites

  • It is important that you are proficient in the skills presented in these foundation classes.
  • Level 1 application classes require prior completion of Windows Level 1.
  • All of our level 2 and level 3 classes build upon skills developed in earlier classes.
  • If the instructor feels that you have been scheduled inappropriately, you will be given the opportunity to reschedule into a class at a skill level that meets your needs.
  • For complete class outlines and prerequisites, please contact your Account Executive.

Day of your class

  • Please arrive 20 minutes prior to your class time, and have your membership card or coupon ready.
  • If you arrive more than 15 minutes late, we may give your seat to another student.
  • If you arrive more than 30 minutes late, you may not be admitted.
  • Please bring a jacket or sweater, because room temperature may vary.
  • If you’re repeating a course, bring the courseware manual you received.

Drug Free Workplace Policy

  • New Horizons San Diego supports a drug free workplace.
  • Applicants and employees may be subject to screening tests for alcohol and illegal drugs.

Student Tuition Recovery Fund

The Student Tuition Recovery Fund (STRF) was established by the legislature to protect any California resident who attends a private postsecondary institution from losing money if the student prepaid tuition and suffered a financial loss as a result of the school’s closing; failure to fulfill the enrollment agreement; or refusing to pay a court judgement.

Discrimination Policy

  • New Horizons San Diego abides by and complies with all laws and regulations pursuant to the California Fair Employment and Housing Act.

Cancellation and Refunds

  • You are entitled to receive a full refund, less up to a $75 application fee, if you submit to New Horizons a written notice of cancellation on or before the first day of class.
  • If you withdraw prior to completing more than 60% of a course, you are entitled to a prorated refund, less up to a $75 application fee, based on the percentage of the course that you completed.

Microsoft Certification

As part of the largest network of Microsoft Certified Technical Education Centers (CTECs), we offer technical courses, including Windows 2000, that follow the Microsoft Official Curriculum (MOC) and are taught by Microsoft Certified Trainers (MCTs).

Available Microsoft certification tracks include:

  • Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP)
  • Microsoft Certified System Administrator (MCSA)
  • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)
  • Microsoft Certified Solution Developer (MCSD)
  • Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA)
  • Microsoft Certified Application Developer (MCAD)

New Horizons Professional Programs

Check with your New Horizons Account Executive for the latest updates on preparing for the New Horizons Network Professional (NHNP) and Network Security Professional Programs (NHNSP).

Cisco Certification. New Horizons now offers training for the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), and the Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP). Ask your Account Executive for details.

CompTIA Certification.

As a member of CompTIA, New Horizons has created courses that follow the exam objectives of CompTIA’s certification programs developed in conjunction with its member organizations. Available certification tracks include:

  • A+
  • Network+
  • i-Net+

Learning Guarantee

  • Every New Horizons instructor-led course carries our Learning Guarantee which allows you to repeat a New Horizons class on a space available basis, at no additional cost, anytime within six months if you are not completely satisfied.
  • Repeat students must bring original kit or courseware.
